The QF air carrier to GLD is quite small but not as tiny as the carrier that flies to Invercargill. Try and get a window seat because you'll enjoy the aerial views which are quite spectacular and beautiful as you descend. The naturally-rich colours of the landscape are due in no small part to the mineral content in the soil and rivers. The airport itself is small but adequate and functional. You can hire a rental car from the airport if you wish to get around or else use taxis. The public transport system (bus) is almost non-existent especially in the weekends. Car transportation is still the best way to get around Gladstone's sprawling suburbs especially in the hot afternoons.
I like that its small not too far to walk and lots of parking
The airport is NOT open 24hours. Can't drop off the key for my rental. Please update the website. It 21:30 and nobody here and doors are all locked.
Clean, easy to navigate with ample parking and wheelchair access. Staff are friendly and helpful. As there is a fair degree of business traffic through this airport, phone charging ports are much needed.
The only staff here were the car rental people. I couldn't find the screen that showed arrivals and departures. I asked the car rental lady and she pointed it out. It was 90 cm x 40 cm. It said the plane was arriving at 8.05pm but the car rental lady told me it is 1.5 hours late. She showed me on an App.. hilarious...the airport has to rely on the car rental staff to advise passengers..it gets 1 star because I am forced to give a rating..
